Hi, I’m looking for a scratch remover that is clear. I’ve tried Nu Finish Scratch Doctor and Kit Scratch Out and few others. They are all white in color and because of that, after I’m done it leaves a white residue on my surface. I can remove the white residue by further applying Nu Finish Scratch Doctor, letting it dry to haze and wiping off the haze, but it beats the purpose. Because Nu Finish fills in the gaps, when I look through my finished product, it is not as clear as it should be.
If I had a scratch remover that is clear to begin with I would not have this problem. The white color in the scratch removers I’ve used so far is leaving some kind of white residue on my product after I’m done. Even washing does not remove the white residue. DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A SCRATCH REMOVER THAT IS CLEAR IN COLOR – INSTEAD OF WHITE? It does not matter what the scratch remover is for. I’ve tried plastic scratch removers, car scratch removers, etc. They all work for my purpose EXCEPT THAT THEY ARE WHITE. So the kind of scratch remover does not matter. ALL I NEED IS A SCRATCH REMOVER THAT HAS NO COLOR – OR IS CLEAR – NOT WHITE. PLEASE HELP.
If there is no scratch remover without color, is there any clear liquid that will react with plastic? The material I’m working on is plastic. I heard that Stoddard solvent attacks plastic and might work for my purpose. Does kerosene or lighter fluid or any other petroleum products react with plastic? Petroleum products have odor. Something without odor and is not a health hazard will be best.
